There were public figures who may have not experiences the joy of being photographed. This is because there were no photos to photographs. However, some of them were lucky to live long enough to be taken photos for remembrance. They are as follows:
1) John Quincy
John Quincy was the third president of the United States. He was the son of John Adams. Even though his family was known to be the political family, its tenure felt inadequate and was underestimated. He was born in 1767. This photo was taken in 1843.
2) Charles Darwin
Charles is a highly popular and influential scientist. He was born in 1809 and died in 1882. Charles’s photo is not well-known. This image of him may have been taken at around 1854.
3) Uncle Sam
Uncle Sam was a patriotic person. He is the one photographed in posters that read, “I want you for US army.” He was born in 1766. He worked as a meatpacker and served the US troops with meat during the war in 1812. This photo of him was taken in the 1850s.
4) Daniel F. Bakeman
Daniel Bakeman, the only surviving combatant of the revolutionary warfare, was born in 1759 and died in 1869. He is the only one who got a veteran’s pension. This picture was captured in 1868, a year before he died, and at the age of 109.
5) Fredrick Douglass
Fredrick escaped slavery in Maryland and became a hero for the abolitionist movement in the 1800s. However, he wanted to be portrayed as an intense and stern individual. This photo was taken sometime between 1847 and 1852.
6) John Tyler
John Tyler was born in 1790. He was the 10th president of the United States. He died unexpectedly of unexplained sickness. This photo of him was taken in 1845. His son is still alive. He is 93 years.
7) Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson, born in 1830, died in 1886. She was a renowned poet. Despite her prowess in poetry, Emily’s work of poetry did not gain her too much fame during her lifetime. This photo of her was taken in 1847 and the only existing one after her childhood.
8) Billy The Kid
His real name was Henry McCarty, born in 1859. Billy the Kid was a popular gun-slinging outlaw of the Old West. He passed on in 1881 at the age of 21. He shot eight men before his death.
9) Abraham Lincoln
Abraham was born in 1809. He was the 16th president of America. He was the most decorated politician in the history of the United States. This picture was the earliest known photo of him and was taken when he was age 37. He was a lawyer at the time it was taken.
10) Franklin Pierce
Franklin, the 14th president of the United States, was not liked. He believed the abolitionist movement was a threat to the country. Franklin was not comfortable with Lincoln’s tenure. He allegedly had to convince a mob not to destroy his house after Lincoln’s assassination. This picture was taken around 1855.
11) Harriet Tubman
Harriet was born in 1822. He was a popular member of the abolitionist movement. She was the person behind the Underground Railroad, which was used to transport slaves to American states. This picture was taken in 1868.
12) Robert E. Lee
Robert Lee was a controversial confederate general in the civil war. He was born in 1807. His view on slavery made him an enemy of the people. Together with him in this picture is his son. This photo was taken in 1845.
13) George Armstrong Custer
Armstrong was born in 1839. His life was full of defeat. He was the last in his graduate class in the United States military academy. He was known as the ‘foolish’ Calvary officer. George was killed at the battle of bighorn. This photo was taken in 1860.
14) Calamity Jane
Her real name was Martha Jane Cannary. She was born in 1852. She was a legend and many legends resonated with her in the days of the Wild West. This photo of her was taken in the 1880s.
15) Marie Curie
Marie was born in 1867. She was a Polish physicist and the first female to win a Nobel Prize. Additionally, the only lady to win a Nobel Prize two times at that time. This picture was taken in 1900.
